Arsenal and Manchester City started the game knowing that a win would see them play Chelsea in the final.
Overall Arsenal can count themselves lucky that they won this game with Manchester City creating the better chances and having some key decisions go against them.
In a tight fought match Aguerro broke free for Manchester City and calm shot the ball around Cech, the Arsenal goalkeeper, in the 62nd minute. At this point it looked like it would be a City win, but Arsenal clung to the task and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s cross was clinically finished by Monreal.
This set up the extra-time win for Arsenal with Sanchez scoring in the 11th minute of the extra-time. Arsenal were a little lucky to win this game and may well need that luck when they play Chelsea in the final at Wembley Stadium on May 27.
