AFC Bournemouth finished the 2016-17 season in 9th which is their highest ever finish in the club’s history. The 1-1 draw at Leicester saw them accumulate 46 points which is a very impressive achievement. It has been a season which they have continued to play good football, although their defensive abilities often seen them concede multiple goals. Fortunately, their style of play promotes attacking football and they were able to also score many goals. Joshua King was their top scorer with 16 goals and a player who has improved significantly from the time that he was signed.

Bournemouth started the match against Leicester very quickly and scored after only 59 seconds when Junior Stanislas finished a sweeping move from the back. This was really a game of two halves with Bournemouth dominating the first half, but failing to add to their early goal. Leicester seemed to wake up in the second half and equalised after 51 minutes with a goal from Vardy.

An excellent season for Bournemouth who won £22.8 million in prize money for finishing 9th. They also earnt £84.4 million along with all the teams in English Premier League from television rights. In addition to this they also earnt £16.4 million from hosting live games, thus making a total of £123.8 million. These figures do not include other revenue such as advertising, selling merchandise or tickets.

One of the pre-match pubs was ‘The Bowling Green’ in Leicester.
