Cherries lose to Arsenal

AFC Bournemouth lost for the third game in a row against Arsenal who are now unbeaten in 17 games.  The Cherries started well and were unlucky to have a goal from Brooks ruled out for offside.  The replay later showing that he was probably onside.  The Cherries consistently broke down the Arsenal flanks, but were unable to profit from their early dominance.

The game changed in the 30th minute when Gosling gave the ball away to Arsenal and a cross came in from Kolasinac and was drilled in by Lerma for a spectacular own goal.  Arsenal started to play better at this point, but the game was balanced out in the last minute. A sweeping move from the Cherries own box to Arsenal’s, saw a measured finish from Joshua King to make the game 1-1 in the last minute of the first half.

Weak defending by Bournemouth allowed a simple cross to Aubameyang who netted from only 6 yards out in the 67nd minute.  The Cherries continued to battle hard and were unlucky when Lerma’s long range shot hit the post and bounced away from the goal.

A draw would have been a fair result and the Cherries will have to work hard in the coming weeks with games against  Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United before the end of the year.
