Cherries draw with the Hammers

AFC Bournemouth

The Cherries drew 2-2 at home with West Ham in a well balanced game full of goals and VAR talking points.  The Hammers went into the lead after only 10 minutes when their man of the match Yarmolenko turned Aké in the box and curled the ball home.

The Cherries were level after 17 minutes when Joshua King finished from close range. The goal was flagged offside to begin with, but this was overruled by VAR and the goal stood.

The Cherries took the lead after only 27 seconds of the second half when Callum Wilson finished from inside the box – his 4th consecutive Premier League game in which he has scored.  Bournemouth thought that they had made it 3-1 when Aké scored from a corner, but another player was flagged as being offside and interfering with play in front of the West Ham goalkeeper.  Wilson also had a great chance to make it 3-1, but he was unable to beat the keeper from close range.

The miss was to prove costly as Cresswell volleyed home after 74 minutes.

A draw was probably a fair result.
