Bournemouth robbed of a draw

Bournemouth were robbed of a draw when Manchester City scored their winning goal in the 97th minute. The match officials had shown there would be 5 minutes of injury time, but seven were added and City were given possession after the referee had given a foul against Bournemouth striker Mousset. It was clearly not a foul and the tackle that Mousset made won him the ball and could have even set Bournemouth up again. From the free kick City moved the ball to Sterling who shot and the ball bobbled in to make the game 2-1 to City. Sterling was subsequently sent off for diving into the crowd(second yellow card).

The referee was criticised by both sets of supporters for different reasons. City thought that the Bournemouth defender Ake should have been sent off instead of receiving a yellow card for bringing down the City striker Jesus in the first half.

The game started well for the Cherries(Bournemouth) when Charlie Daniels struck a stunning goal into the net from outside the box in the 13th minute. The goal could be a potential goal of the season. The Cherries continued to create chances and Defoe’s volley from inside the box was well saved by Ederson the City keeper.

At times City were almost playable when they swarmed forward and Silva played a clever ball through to Jesus who passed the ball into the Cherries net in the 21st minute.

Bournemouth defended well throughout the match and whilst the chances for them to score in the second half were limited, King was unlucky when his shot from the edge of the box came back off the post. City also hit the post in the second half.

This was a much better performance from Bournemouth, but everyone involved with club were devastated by the 97th City winner. The Cherries have now lost 3 in a row, but there is much more hope after their overall performance.
