Bournemouth left Crystal Palace with a point after a frantic game which was punctuated by bad refereeing. Palace had two dubious penalties awarded to them with the second one being missed by Benteke.
Jermain Defoe found the net in the 10th minute from an Andrew Surman cross. Palace equalised from a Milivojevic penalty and then 3 minutes later Dann made it 2-1 for Palace.
The game’s moment of brilliance came with almost the last kick of the first half when Defoe swiveled and lobbed the ball into the net. Defoe’s goals in this match were his 200 and 201st. His first goal came 17 years earlier when he initially played for Bournemouth.
Palace were awarded a penalty in injury time and incredibly out of form Benteke took the ball from Milivojevic who had scored the first. He then put in a weak shot which the Cherries keeper Begovic saved.
One can only hope that the referees’s penalty decisions are reviewed particularly the first when it seemed that Zaha dived. The Cherries leave with a point, but if decisions had not gone against them could have had 3 points.
