Welcome home Jermain Defoe! 17 years after playing on loan from West Ham, Defoe has signed for AFC Bournemouth! Defoe is well known and very well loved by the Cherries fans because when he was on loan he had an incredible record of scoring marking 19 goals in 31 appearances, including a run of 10 goals in consecutive league games that equalled a post-war record.
Defoe is now 34, but still retains pace and is a tried and tested goalscorer. He helped to keep Sunderland up with his goalscoring in the 2015-16 season, but even his goals could not keep Sunderland up in 2016-17. He has scored at every club he has played at and has also marked 20 goals in 57 England appearances.
His return to Dean Court (Vitality Stadium) sees him working again with old teammates and now manager and assistant, Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall. All Cherries fans will be hoping that he can maintain the same strike rate that he has achieved throughout his career.
