It was a difficult day for Bournemouth against the leaders Chelsea and luck was definitely not on their side. They started well and could have been a goal up when Chelsea’s Luiz almost scored an own goal when he slashed at a clearance and it shot off towards his own goal. Fortunately for Chelsea their goalkeeper Courtoise was able to pull off a great save.

Shortly after this, Chelsea attacked and Costa turned and shot in the box. The ball was going wide of the goal, but hit Smith a Bournemouth defender and went in. 1-0 to Chelsea. Three minutes later a great ball through to Hazard saw him cleverly round Boruc, the Bournemouth keeper, and it was 2-0 after only 20 minutes.
Bournemouth’s bad luck continued when Daniel’s run and his cross to Afobe was struck sweetly, but hit the post and then went wide.

The Cherries did get one back through King in the 40th minute. He has now scored 10 goals in his last 11 Premier League appearances, after netting just three in the 20 before that this season.
There was no luck involved in Chelsea’s third goal with Alonso putting the ball over the wall and into the net from a 20 yard free kick.

Bournemouth battled hard and put in a good performance despite the 3-1 scoreline.

Having now played top of the table Chelsea they now face another tough game when they face second placed Spurs in London.
