AFC Bournemouth played well and deserved a draw, but lost to a goal from Manchester United scored in the 92nd minute. The Cherries had dominated the first half and opened the scoring in the 11th minutes with a finely crafted goal from ‘goal machine’ Callum Wilson.
A clever pass by Lewis Cook split the United defence and a pinpoint pass from Stanislas to Wilson gave him the chance which he duly scored from. Several other chances including one where Fraser was clean through, but unable to neat De Gea the United manager. The Cherries also had a good shout for a penalty when Brooks was bundled over from a cross.
United equalised after 35 minutes when Martial finished well from a slick move which was arguably started by a handball by Sanchez in midfield.
Jose Mourinho the United manager stated that he was the “luckiest manager in the Premier League” after the first half and “the score should have been like 6-2”.
The second half saw a more resilient United and they created some good chances and a mix of good luck and determined defending kept United out. Bournemouth also created chances, including two good efforts from Brooks.
The killer blow from United came from a cross which Rashford managed to scramble into the net in injury time. A cruel blow for the Cherries.
