AFC Bournemouth racked up a 4-0 win against Huddersfield even though they only played with 10 men after Francis was sent off at the end of the first half. The game was punctuated by poor refereeing decisions and neither team would be happy with the performance. It is unusual to complain about the officials when you win 4-0, but Bournemouth would be entitled to.
The Cherries started the game slowly and Huddersfield’s pressing led them to have the best of the first 20 minutes. The game changed when Callum Wilson headed in from 3 yards from a corner after 26 minutes. 4 minutes Wilson made it 2 when he beat the offside trap and smoothly finished.
It seemed that the second half would be more challenging for the Cherries when Francis was sent off for his second yellow card at the end of the first period. Bournemouth had to defend their lead at the start of the second half, but the game became theirs when Harry Arter won the ball thirty yards from the Huddersfield goal and then smashed the ball into the corner of the net to make it 3-0 after 70 minutes. The day got even better for Wilson and the Cherries when he calmly completed his hat-trick in the 84th minute. He could have scored 4, but decided to pass when it seemed certain that he would shoot. The pass came to nothing and the Cherries had to make do with a fine 4-0 win!
