The Cherries started their 2019-20 campaign with a 1-1 draw against newly promoted Sheffield United. A poor game with players seeming to still be on the beach rather than focused on the game.
The better chances in the first half went to United and Cherries young keeper Aaron Ramsdale, making his debut, had to make a couple of smart saves. Bournemouth did not register a shot on goal during the first half.
The Cherries did however take the lead five minutes into the second half through a goal from Mepham who knocked the ball in from close range following a free kick. The Cherries then took control of the game until 2 minutes from the end when poor all around defending allowed Sharp in to equalise.
The Cherries will surely play better in the next match away to Aston Villa after this performance.
