The Cherries came from behind to almost win against Chelsea. Bournemouth started the better and should have taken the lead through Billing, but his shot from close range was too close to the keeper. Chelsea started to play better and scored through Alonso after 33 minutes. They then went on to command the rest of the first half.
The Cherries took the lead through an unstoppable Lerma header from a 54th minute corner. The return of Lerma and Aké to the team reinforced the spine of the team and they were the best players on the pitch. Bournemouth then dramatically took the lead through Joshua King three minutes later. The Cherries continued to dominate until King was substituted, a decision which he was not happy with.
The Cherries increasingly defended deeply and Ramsdale was forced into action on a number of a occasions. The Cherries almost held on to their 2-1 lead, but Alonso snuck in at the back post in the 85th minute to equalise it. It was a committed performance by the Cherries who really could have done with all three points in their relegation battle. Next week it will be Liverpool away, a game where they would be more than happy just to take a point!
