Bournemouth win 1-0 at Sunderland with another goal from Josh King in the 88th minute. This effectively means that the Cherries(Bournemouth) will be playing in the English Premier League next season. The result also means that Sunderland are relegated and will play in the Championship next season. The Championship is the second level of English football after the Premier League.
The first 3 minutes of the game saw Bournemouth create good opportunities to score and looked like it was going to be a long day for Sunderland. However, the initial pressure from Bournemouth did not see any goals. Sunderland managed to come into the game a little, but almost when behind in the 20th minute when King hit the inside of the bar and the ball deflected onto the post and out to safety. It was a very clever shot from King who deserved to see it go in.
Bournemouth had 59% of possession, but were unable to score and it looked like it was going to be draw until the 88th minute when King finished from inside the area after a clever pass from Fraser.
Sunderland have been the worst team in the league and deserve to get relegated. One of their rare wins of the season was actually at Bournemouth in November when they won 1-0 with just about their only shot of the game. The relegation has been coming for several seasons as Sunderland have consistently hovered near the bottom of the League.
It is a bitter blow for the Sunderland fans who are some of the best in the country. They definitely merit better than what they saw this season.
