The local derby between AFC Bournemouth and Southampton ended as goalless draw, but the lack of goals did not totally reflect the action in the game. Southampton had the better first half, although not really threatening too much. Bournemouth had the better of the second half with complete domination for the last 15 minutes and Southampton only just hanging on for a point. Bournemouth also missed a penalty.
Questions should be asked of the person responsible for the pitch as Harry Arter’s foot gave way on the pitch as he went to strike the ball for the penalty. The ball ballooned over. An almost identical slip by Harry Kane happened earlier this season.
A point is an ok result for both teams and particularly important as AFC Bournemouth start of run of very tough looking fixtures.
Whilst I am not able to attend the matches in person my brother and nephew are able to share their pre-match pub venue with me. I went to this pub, The Guide Dog, last season and the beer is very good!
