The Cherries went head to head against League leaders Manchester City and came away with a respectable 3-1 defeat. This result is much better than most teams have managed and the Cherries more than held their own during the first half despite going behind to a 16th minute goal from Bernardo Silva. Bournemouth worked hard and Wilson equalised in the 44th minute.
Bournemouth nearly scored again through King after the break, but they went behind after scrappy defending saw Sterling finish. The game was won by City in the 79th minute by Gundogan. It was a fourth successive defeat for the Cherries and and eighth home win in a row in the Premier League this season for City.
