Cherries draw 1-1 in South Coast derby

AFC Bournemouth

The Cherries drew 1-1 with their South Coast rivals after a hard fought match. Fraser took the lead in the 42nd minute for Bournemouth when he slid the ball past Forster the Southampton keeper. This could have been a second goal for Bournemouth as they should have had a penalty 10 minutes earlier when Smith was taken down in the penalty box. Unfortunately, the referee thought that Smith had dived and booked him instead of giving the Cherries the penalty. Smith will miss the next match having now been booked for the fifth time this season.

The Saints(Southampton) equalised with a Charlie Austin scored the in the 61st minute.

AFC Bournemouth could have won the game in the last minute when Ake’s header went over the bar. A draw was probably a fair result, although it could have been a completely different game if the referee had not made a mistake in the first half an awarded a penalty to Bournemouth.
