Joshua King’s strong turn and finish in the 87th minute gave Bournemouth a hard fought point at Liverpool.
Bournemouth’s pressing in the first half ended with Liverpool’s Wijnaldum making a soft pass back to his keeper which was intercepted and clinically finished by Bournemouth’s Afobe. Bournemouth should have made it 2 when Pugh found himself alone at the back post, but blasted his shot just wide of the post.
Liverpool increasingly dominated the game and Coutinho equalised in the 40th minute. They could have a second, but for a spectacular save from Boruc the Bournemouth keeper who tipped Clyne’s effort onto the bar and then safety. Liverpool did get a second in the 59th minute when Origi headed home after excellent play by Wijnaldum.
Bournemouth continued to battle hard and their efforts were paid off when Joshua King scored his 12th goal for the season.
Bournemouth had not won any of their first 7 games of 2017, but since the start of March remain unbeaten and this point moves them another point closer to retaining their place in the English Premier League.
Another tough game on Saturday with the Cherries facing the almost certain Champions, Chelsea at Dean Court(the Vitality Stadium).
