The Cherries put in a respectable performance at Liverpool, but still went down 2-1 which was Liverpool’s 22nd successive Premier League win at home.
Bournemouth started well and took the lead when Lerma crossed to Callum Wilson and he fired home from close range in the 9th minute. Bournemouth brought Simpson on when Cook had to off injured and it was Simpson who had advanced too far forward when the Cherries lost the ball and a simple pass through to Salah saw him slot the ball home in the 25th minute. Liverpool’s lead was doubled 8 minutes later when Mané scored.
The Cherries battled on and almost equalised in the second half when Fraser’s chip was brilliantly cleared off the line by James Milner. Few other chances were created, although Mané hit the post and Aké could have equalised from close range in the last minute, but decided to pass instead.
Bournemouth are in the relegation zone on goal difference and did well today not to concede more goals in this game.
