AFC Bournemouth drew this match 2-2 with Newcastle equalising in the 94th minute when ex-Cherry Matt Ritchie volleyed home.  The game was affected by the strong winds and neither team played particularly well in a scrappy game which was also badly refereed by Mike Dean.

Bournemouth could have scored in the first half when Fraser broke through and his shot hit the foot of post.  The half time score was 1-0 to Newcastle as Rondon impressively shot his free kick  over the Cherries wall in the last minute of the half.

The Cherries came out strongly in the second half and were awarded a penalty when Aké was fouled from a corner in the 48th minute. King scored from the spot to make it 1-1.  King then scored again in the 81st minute after Solanke had cleverly held on the ball and then passed to the goalscorer on the edge of the box. He slotted home impressively.

The Cherries could have had a third goal when Wilson’s looping header went over Newcastle keeper Dubravka, but it was spectacularly hooked off the line by Dummett.

The game should have been over when Ritchie volleyed in from a Yedlin cross in the 94th minute.   A disappointing result, but another point towards a guaranteed spot in the Premier League next season.
